So Yea- we finally got our house. On the way to closing we got a call from our agent that some papers were missing and that might delay the closing, but someone did some fancy fax work and we got all the signatures.
After we closed we headed over to the house to start cleaning. What a job!!!!. David found that every single faucet leaks and we couldn't get a toilet to work. We cleaned the carpet and Maddie and I scrubbed the kitchen floor- what a job. It started to look livable.
Then we headed back "home" to pack up a moving truck. David and I thought we would be tough and packed the entire truck with a little help from a really nice college guy neighbor. On the way to Tulsa, we realized that we were dead tired and there was no way we could unpack the truck. Luckily John came to help and it's a good thing- we couldn't have done it without him.
Then we headed back to Stillwater- went to church and then David went back to Tulsa because we had turned the heater down to move in and forgot to turn it back up. So he needed to turn it back up so the pipes wouldn't freeze.
Then the snow hit- a record snow for Tulsa- 14 inches in one day. For us Utahans that may not seem like a lot, but you have to remember, Utah has snow plows and snow shovels. David was stuck in the house with no way to get out. The snow drifted 3 feet in some places. David found the kids snow shovel that had somehow made it onto the moving truck and shoveled a part of the driveway. But the streets were covered and there was no way he could get out and go anywhere. By Wednesday he was pretty tired of the box of granola bars we had left when we moved there. I remembered that we had packed all the backpacking food if he could just find it. He did and had one of the best tasting meals ever- eaten with a knife because that was all he could find.
On Thursday the roads in Stillwater were clear enough that we decided to venture over to Tulsa to rescue him. The roads were fine until we got to Tulsa and then it was a mess. Cars that were stuck in the middle of the freeway, blocked traffic. The off and on ramps were virtually impassable. If you could get past the piles of snow that all the cars had pushed, you had to maneuver around all the stuck cars.
We got David, went to get him some fresh food and then headed home.
This whole week has been crazy for work also. Tuesday was supposed to be my last day, but because of the weather the office was closed. Wednesday and Thursday were the same. Finally on Friday I got to go for my last day. (We have a rule that you have to physically be at work your last day.) David said I need to get my fuzzy bathrobe and bon-bons ready for next week.
We hope to officially move everything this weekend. (We wanted to move everything last weekend, but the snow made that impossible.) More snow is expected tonight and again on Wednesday so we will see if we actually get to move. This living in 2 places is very unsettling and a bit difficult. I tried to make cookies this week while we were home from school and work, but had no cookie sheets or pans. David had all the pans and bowls and cookie sheets, but no oven.
