Starting a new year is always so much fun- getting to know teachers, telling them why your child is not strange because they will sit and read for 2 hours straight, explaining why they cannot read Diary of a Whimpy Kid and various other first of the year fun activities.

Maddie started middle school. She was very excited, yet worried. She loves her World Studies teacher, which makes me very happy. She was first put in 7th grade orchestra and I questioned the reasoning behind that, but was told that since she knew how to play the violin, she needed to be in the 7th grade orchestra instead of 6th grade orchestra. What we discovered is that because she was in 7th grade orchestra, that meant that only she and 1 other girl got to eat lunch together- other than that, they were totally alone. After a week of a very stressed 6th grader, we decided it was better that she be able to socialize and have fun instead of go to 7th grade orchestra. Life for everyone is much happier now.

Ethan is very lucky to have his best friend from church in his school class- unique because they are the only 2 Mormon kids in their grade. When we asked if he got to sit by Matt at school, he said no. He informed us that all the kids got to choose their own seats, but when he went to school he choose a seat and sat down and then a bunch of kids came to site by him. So he got up and moved and the group of kids followed him. He said, "every time I moved, they all followed me." He finally gave up. Oh the life of a well-liked kid.
